If you’ve wandered past Scholar & Scribe recently, you may have noticed craftsmen coming and going. Soft lamplight is beginning to glow through the Library Bar windows, and shelves slowly filling with treasures. After months of dreaming and designing—and navigating the maze of permits, plumbing, and finishing touches—The Library Bar is officially in its final stretch.

We can almost hear the clink of glasses already.

Where Literary Ambiance Meets Storytelling

From day one, our vision for The Library Bar was a place where time seems to slow down—a room that feels like the inside of your favorite novel. We chose moody Sea Serpent walls, antique-inspired fixtures, warm brass accents, and soft-edged lighting designed to feel like candlelight on a winter evening.

Cushy nooks invite lingering conversations. The bar itself is wrapped in rich wood tones and surrounded by shelves lined with books, botanicals, and curiosities collected from near and far. Every detail has been chosen to spark a sense of wonder, intimacy, and discovery.

Co-founder Tela Kayne expressed the heart of it:

“From the beginning, our dream was to build a place where beauty and belonging meet. The Library Bar is designed to slow you down, lift your spirits, and remind you of the magic that happens when people gather with intention.”

And co-founder Carmen Coe shared her heart for the project as well:

“My hope is that people walk in and immediately feel seen and welcomed. This bar is an extension of the fellowship we’ve always nurtured at Scholar & Scribe.”

Every design choice reflects our heart for fellowship: a place where readers, writers, neighbors, and friends gather not just to sip something lovely but to be nourished by connection.

We’re putting the finishing touches on our elevated menu of literary teas, curated wines, cheese pairings, and non-alcoholic offerings crafted with the same care you’ve come to expect from Scholar & Scribe. Each beverage tells a story; each board is a passport to another place. Your future favorite reading nook—and your new go-to date-night spot—is taking shape beautifully.

A Venue for Gatherings, Book Clubs, and Inspired Conversations

In addition to being a haven for everyday enjoyment, The Library Bar will also serve as an intimate venue for gatherings and special events. From private celebrations and cozy book club meetings to thoughtful Scholar Talks and unforgettable author evenings, the space is designed to elevate every experience. Its warm lighting, refined finishes, and naturally conversational layout create the perfect backdrop for those moments when ideas are exchanged, stories are shared, and fellowship comes to life. We’re awaiting final inspections and the last pieces of equipment before we can officially welcome you in. The countdown has truly begun. And the best part? You’ve been cheering us on every step of the way. One longtime customer shared:

A Space Designed With You in Mind

Every inch of The Library Bar has been shaped by the way we see our guests using it—quiet mornings with a book and a pot of tea, afternoons spent catching up with a friend, and evenings that stretch into meaningful conversations over a beautiful glass of wine. We designed the seating to encourage both intimacy and exploration, blending intimate corner seating with long communal tables and softly lit corners perfect for journaling or unwinding after a long day. Even the fragrance of the room—warm, subtle, and inviting—was chosen to create a sense of calm the moment you step inside. This isn’t just a bar; it’s an experience, crafted for people who value beauty, story, and connection.
