AUTHOR PROGRAMS
Scholar & Scribe is proud to support local authors. If you are a self-published or local author, in order for us to carry your book, authors must provide Scholar & Scribe with one review copy. Review copies are not returned. In addition, your book must be available for distribution via Ingram book distributors. Due to the volume of submissions, we do not respond to every one. Generally, you will only hear from us if we decide to stock your book, usually in about 1-3 months.
Once approved, we will shelve the review copy. If it sells, we will order additional copies directly from Ingram.
Please note: If a title has not sold in a six month period, the books will be removed from the shelf and the author will be contacted to retrieve the review copy. If books are not picked up within two weeks of contact, we will donate them to a local library.
Book Signings
We typically schedule signings about two months in advance, with Saturdays being our recommended day due to the heavy foot traffic. The signing usually lasts for two hours, providing ample time for you to connect with your readers. In terms of book sales, we would be happy to offer your books to our customers on a consignment basis during the event, with a 50% split in sales. Authors are responsible for providing the stock of books for the signing and should have a marketing strategy to promote the event (social media, signage, emails/invitations). While we will add the event to our shop calendar, it is up to each author to market their book signing event.
We cannot guarantee that we will keep any of the books in stock after the signing, so please be aware that you will need to take any unsold books with you.
The cost for a standard in-shop signing event is $100 + 50% split in sales to include: Title Setup, Signing Table & Chair, Social Media Promotion and two hours of allocated time in the store.
After hour events, larger venue options and F&B packages are also available. Quotes will be provided upon request. We will also host ticketed events that will help cover the cost of the event if it includes a seminar, talk or interactive activity that would be of interested to the broader community.
