AUTHOR PROGRAMS

Scholar & Scribe is proud to support local authors. If you are a self-published or local author, in order for us to carry your book, authors must provide Scholar & Scribe with a review copy and the book must be available for distribution via Ingram. We read each and every submission that we receive, however due to the volume of submissions, we do not respond to every one. Generally, you will only hear from us if we decide to stock your book, usually in about 1-3 months.

Once approved, we will shelve the review copy. If it sells, we will order additional copies directly from Ingram.

Please note: If a title has not sold in a six month period, the books will be removed from the shelf and the author will be contacted to retrieve the review copy. If books are not picked up within two weeks of contact, we will donate them to a local library.

Book Signings

We typically schedule signings about 2 months in advance, with Saturday afternoons being our recommended time due to the heavy foot traffic. The signing usually lasts for 2 hours, providing ample time for you to connect with your readers. In terms of book sales, we would be happy to offer your books to our customers on a consignment basis during the event, with a 50% split in sales. Authors are responsible for providing the stock of books for the signing. We cannot guarantee that we will keep any of the books in stock after the signing, so please be aware that you will need to take any unsold books with you.

The cost for a standard in-shop signing event is $100 + 50% split in sales to include: Title Setup, Signing Table & Chair, Social Media Promotion and two hours of allocated time in the store.

After hour events, larger venue options and F&B packages are also available. Quotes will be provided upon request. We will also host ticketed events that will help cover the cost of the event if it includes a seminar, talk or interactive activity that would be of interested to the broader community.

Yes! As an independent bookseller in a town of creators, we are very supportive of our local writing community. In fact, we host writing workshops and seminars to help local authors grow in their craft. Learn more.

We accept returns only on unread books in absolutely new condition, purchased at regular price from the store stock, within 30 days after purchase, or books that were defective from the printer. 

When we accept a return, we offer store credit only or in the case of a defective book, a replacement. We do not refund cash, credit cards, or checks. Store credit will be placed onto a store gift card for future use if you are unable to take the time to find a replacement item at the time of return.
