Coffee in Fayetteville, GA

Coffee, Books & an Unhurried Morning

Some coffee is made to carry out the door. Ours is made to stay awhile.

Scholar & Scribe is an independent bookstore, café and wine bar in the Town at Trilith in Fayetteville, Georgia, and now we’re pouring espresso, too. Order a cortado. Pull a book from the shelf. Find a seat by the window. It’s not a coffee stop. It’s a place to settle in.

Featuring Opo Coffee

Our beans come from Opo Coffee, a specialty roaster in Decatur, Georgia. Opo roasts every bag in-house and ships it within a week of roasting, so your cup is always fresh. They work directly with importers who know the producers and cooperatives behind each coffee, and their mission is to use specialty coffee to make a positive impact on people’s lives. We liked the coffee, and we liked the people behind it. That seemed a good start to a long friendship.

The Espresso Bar

A short menu, made with care: single shot ($3.50), doppio ($4.00), Americano ($5.00), cortado ($5.50), cappuccino ($6.00) and latte ($6.50). Pick whole, 2%, almond or oat milk. For a little sweetness, add hazelnut, caramel, sugar-free vanilla or our handcrafted vanilla, lavender and seasonal syrups.

Special Editions

$6.50, hot (12 oz) or iced (16 oz)

  • Seasonal Latte: Created for the season. Ask about today’s edition.
  • The Fog of London: Earl Grey, steamed vanilla milk and a whisper of lavender.
  • Chai of Two Cities: Small-batch chai made with organic black tea.
  • Mad Hatter’s Matcha: Organic ceremonial matcha from Uji and Kagoshima.
  • Scholar’s Hot Chocolate ($8.50): Made with the finest French ganache.

Something to Go With It

A good coffee deserves company. Try a buttery croissant ($4) or a ham and Comté croissant ($8), scones from a local artisan bakery ($5.50), sugar-dusted mini beignets ($4.50 a pair) or French macarons ($3.75). For something heartier, there’s the Parfait de Maison ($8) or the Protein Board ($11), which comes with dark chocolate espresso beans for anyone who likes their coffee in more than one form.

As for the right book, our booksellers are happy to suggest one. A latte goes well with a novel. A doppio is good company for a short story.

Mornings for Work, Evenings for Lingering

During the day, you’re welcome to bring a laptop, catch up on email or meet a colleague over a cappuccino. After 5 pm, we kindly ask that laptops be put away while the Library Bar turns to wine, conversation and, on select evenings, live music. Come for an afternoon espresso. Stay for a glass of wine. Stay for another chapter.
